Skin is kind of a weird thing and the most recent thing i had to deal with is dry, dehydrated skin, which is something foreign to me since my actual skin type is oily and its something that i’ve never thought i would be dealing with but it does happen..my skin would be dry, tight, dull and lack luster, it just didn’t feel good at all..and let me tell you, the #thirst was REAL people -for my skin- so i discovered the big trigger for me was my lifestyle, from travelling a ton to being in heated environment to air conditioning, not having enough water..all of these things really contributed to just making my skin freak out like a monster!
I don’t want to talk with you about skin in general, i want to be able to help any of you who are having similar skin issues because i know it sucks to have those days when you feel like you don’t want to leave the house. Once i’ve really embraced simplifying my routine and stuck with it, my skin was like Okay I would do whatever you want me to do! So I’m gonna list for you my little “skincare circle of trust” that i have created..
Washing your face is something really important and its something you’ve heard your mom say like forever and its something you should do, but finding what works for you is also really important.
I have been loving the “Simple Cleanser Micellar water” it instantly hydrates your skin and also reduces the potential for any kind of irritation which means its great for the sensitive skin people out there which I am definitely part of this club.. and i can verify that it actually does take off makeup, it actually will take off makeup that you don’t even know you have on your face.
After washing my face i go straight into my mositurizer and i use the “Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturizer” its a rich and creamy one that lasts all day without looking or feeling greasy because i have oily skin and this is something that works really well for me. I apply this moisturizer and wait 10mins, this has made all the difference in my foundation application.
Its also important to hydrate your under eye area and I’m somebody who has a REALLY dry under eyes and thats why i always gravitated towards thicker eye creams and the one i’ve been using consistently for years is the “Kiehl’s Creamy Under Eye Treatment with Avocado” and this sits really nicely under any kind of concealer you use and i find it helps decrease the creasing you get from concealers.
Something that I’m actually almost out of because i use every singe day is the “Fresh Sugar Lemon Body Lotion”, first of all it smells like fresh laundry and this is the most accurate and true description of this lotion! Its ridiculously hydrating but without feeling super heavy on the skin cause you know that feeling when you shower in the morning and put lotion on and then have to put your clothes on and you feel sticky and gross and weird in your jeans.. this wont do that because it just sinks in your skin and you feel hydrated throughout the day but you cant actually feel the lotion on your skin.
This was for my “hydration” part, stay tuned for DIYs that supplements the entire routine and are just fun to do every now and then when you want to pamper your skin.
